State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid has urged the people to remain united against the forces that have been opposing the development of Bangladesh.

"We have to remain united against the groups that have been active against the development and progress", he said while addressing a webinar organised by the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources to commemorate the Bangabandhu's 48th Martyrdom Anniversary and National Mourning Day 2023, on Thursday.

The state minister said that those who opposed progress and development had killed Bangabandhu to destroy Bangladesh.

He said the Father of the Nation had first instructed the officials to take initiative to reach electricity to the rural areas of Bangladesh as a constitutional obligation.

"We've now been following his instructions. Bangabandhu's contribution at every level of state administration and in every aspect of nation building encourages us to work diligently", he said.

Dr Tawfiq Elahi Chowdhury said that under the leadership of Bangabandhu, the country was moving forward through a constitutional structure in a very short period of time.

"But a national-international conspiracy was trying to stall the country's progress by killing Bangabandhu", he said.

"Bangladesh now is becoming a middle income country based on the development that Bangabandhu built. A prosperous Bangladesh will be formed by the year 2041 under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina", he added.

With Senior Secretary of Power Division Habibur Rahman in the chair, the online seminar was also addressed by Prime Minister's Energy Advisor Dr Tawfiq-e-Elahi Chowdhury, Vice Chancellor of the World University Dr Abdul Mannan Chowdhury, Chairman of the Standing Committee on Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Begum Wasika Ayesha Khan, Secretary of Energy and Mineral Resources Division Dr. Md. Khaeruzzaman Majumdar, Chairman of Bangladesh Rural Electrification Board (BREB), Mohaammad Salim Uddin, Chairman of Petrobangla Janendra Nath Sarkar, Chairman of Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation ABM Azad and Chairman of Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) Mahbubur Rahman also spoke on the occasion.
