Paturia-Daulatdia ferry operations resume after fog halts movement for over 3 hours
Lots of vehicles, including buses, trucks and other vehicles, were stranded at both terminals.
Ferry movement on the Paturia-Daulatdia river route on the Padma resumed this morning (12 October) after a suspension of 3 hours and 20 minutes due to dense fog, the Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation's (BIWTC) Paturia terminal sources have said.
The terminal's assistant general manager, Abdus Salam, said ferry movement between Paturia and Daulatdia was suspended at 4am because dense fog had covered the river route, disrupting visibility.
He added that at the time, four ferries -- Hasna Hena, Khan Zahan Ali, Shahid Barkat and Kumilla -- were at the Paturia terminal with vehicles and passengers, while three ferries -- Shah Mokdum, Shah Poran and Baiger -- were at the Daulatdia side with vehicles and passengers.
Three ferries -- Shahid Motiur Rahman and Shah Enayetpuri -- were in the middle of the Padma, the AGM added.
Lots of vehicles, including buses, trucks and other vehicles, were stranded at both terminals, sources said.
