Prominent businessman, philanthropist Akikur Rahman passes away
Prominent businessman, philanthropist and consumer rights advocate Md Akikur Rahman has died in Dhaka at the age of 75.
Rahman was former managing director of Odessa Fashions Limited and Saimon Printing & Packaging Limited, according to a press release.
He was also a founding figure and former vice-president of the Bangladesh Carton Manufacturers Association. He was a member of the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) and served as treasurer and executive committee member of the Consumers Association of Bangladesh (CAB).
Earlier in his career, Rahman was among BRAC's founding staff members.
He made significant contributions to Bangladesh's garment, printing and packaging industries and was widely respected for his integrity, leadership and commitment to public welfare, the release said.
Rahman was a resident of Sharifkhani Mohalla in Baniachang upazila of Habiganj. He is survived by his family, relatives and many admirers.
His family requested prayers for the forgiveness and eternal peace of the departed soul.
