Former Vice-Chancellor of Dhaka University (DU) Professor Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique was laid to eternal rest at Azimpur graveyard in Dhaka this afternoon (14 March).

He was buried next to his parents' graves following the second namaz-e-janaza at Dhanmondi Eidgah Mosque after Jumma prayers attended by his family members, Dhaka University teachers, his students, and a large number of admirers and well-wishers.

Earlier, his first namaz-e-janaza was held in front of the Baitul Aksa Jame Mosque, next to Arefin Siddique's residence on Green Road in the city.

DU VC Prof Niaz Ahmed Khan attended the janaza.

On Thursday, Professor Arefin breathed his last at 10:45pm while undergoing treatment at the Neurosurgery Department of Ibrahim Cardiac Hospital.

He is survived by his wife, only daughter, students and a host of well-wishers and admirers.

Besides, Professor Arefin served as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS).
