Prof Dr Lutfar Kader Lenin

Prof Dr Lutfar Kader Lenin, Joint Director of the Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery, died of Covid-19 on Wednesday.

He breathed his last at 2.52pm on Wednesday while undergoing treatment at the intensive care unit of Square Hospital in the capital, said Dr Tanveer Ahmed Himon, a colleague of Prof Lenin.

Dr Tanveer Ahmed Himon said Dr Lenin contracted Covid-19 on 5 December. Then he began receiving treatment at Square Hospital.

Dr Lenin's wife and mother also contracted Covid-19, added Dr Tanveer.

Dr Lenin, a professor of plastic surgery, was a student of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (batch K-48). He was 48 years old when he died.

Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA) President Dr Mustafa Jalal Mohiuddin and General Secretary Md Ehteshamul Huq Choudhury expressed their deep shock at the death of Prof Lenin.

According to the BMA, 125 doctors have died of Covid-19 in the country so far.
