Nurullah Nuri made Ctg Chamber administrator until its elections
The elections for the trade body will be held on 1 November

Mohammad Nurullah Nuri, Additional Divisional Commissioner (Overall), has been appointed as the new administrator of the Chattogram Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI).
He will serve until the chamber's elections scheduled for 1 November, according to a Commerce Ministry notification issued today.
Nuri replaces former administrator Mohammad Anwar Pasha, who is now Executive Director of the Bangladesh Shipping Corporation.
According to the notification, under Section 17 of the Trade Organizations Act, 2022, Pasha's one-year term had ended, prompting the government to appoint Nuri from 9 September until the election process concludes.
The appointment follows mounting protests against Pasha, with businesspeople accusing him of nepotism and labeling him a "partner of fascism."
Earlier on Monday, the Anti-Discrimination Business Forum held a program outside the Agrabad World Trade Center, demanding his removal and calling for a fair election under impartial oversight.
Anwar Pasha was first appointed administrator on 9 September last year. Following widespread protests after the government's fall on 5 August 2024, the chamber's president Omar Hajjaj and 24 directors resigned, leading to a Ministry of Commerce request for a new administrator.
Initially, elections were to be held within 120 days but were extended twice.
The election schedule was announced on 11 August. According to the schedule, elections for this trade organization will be held on 1 November.
There will be competition for 24 director positions across various categories: 12 in the Ordinary Member category, six in the Associate Member category, three in the Trade Group, and three in the Town Association Group.
