No lack of level playing field for polls: Salehuddin
"The administration will not show any bias," he said.
There is no lack of a level playing field for elections in the country, Finance Adviser Salehuddin Ahmed said today (19 January), asserting that the administration will not show any bias.
He made the remarks while speaking to journalists after a public awareness meeting on the referendum at the Lakshmipur Sadar Upazila Parishad hall.
Responding to the issue of Chhatra Dal staging a sit-in surrounding the Election Commission (EC) headquarters in Dhaka, the adviser said the EC would look into the matter.
"Campaigning will begin on 22 January. After that, if anyone holds meetings or rallies, it will fall under the jurisdiction of the Election Commission," he said.
Describing the task of taking Bangladesh forward as "the biggest challenge," Salehuddin stressed that every voter must be ensured equal rights.
"People will act like auditors. Just as auditors examine accounts and demand transparency, voters will scrutinise finances and activities. Through this process, they will determine the acceptance of the polls," he added.
