No fascism will be tolerated in name of religion: State Minister Saki
He noted that the government is implementing these initiatives rapidly, with pilot programmes already underway for each scheme
Brahmanbaria-6 MP and State Minister for Finance and Planning Zonayed Saki has said no form of fascism will be tolerated in the name of religion, cautioning that an extreme rightish ideology is emerging in Bangladesh and posing a threat to the country's interests.
"Just as we have confronted ethnic fascism in the past, today we will not tolerate any form of fascism in the name of religion. If necessary, under the leadership of the BNP, we must uphold the unity we have achieved across the country," he made the remarks at a public reception and Iftar programme in Brahmanbaria's Bancharampur today (27 February).
"With this unity maintained, Bangladesh can be strengthened as a democratic, sovereign nation where everyone receives their rightful share and justice prevails. The country must remain united and develop a political leadership strong enough to prevent any malevolent force from rising again," Saki added.
The minister further said, "Prime Minister Tarique Rahman have been working tirelessly to fulfil the electoral promises. These include the Family Card programme, the Agricultural Card scheme, the waiver of agricultural loans with Tk10,000 interest support and the provision of allowances for religious leaders."
He noted that the government is implementing these initiatives rapidly, with pilot programmes already underway for each scheme.
