New order issued on paying last tribute to freedom fighters

The Ministry of Liberation War Affairs has issued a new order on paying last tribute to freedom fighters in their death.
 
The new order states that the name of freedom fighter must be included on any one of the documents published on the website of the ministry (www.molwa.gov.bd) in order to pay homage on behalf of the state.

The order said that in case of death of any heroic freedom fighter, the concerned Deputy Commissioner or Upazila Nirbahi Officer should be informed.
 
The new order has repealed the previous order of 2005 regarding this issue, said a handout on Sunday.
 
According to the handout, Bangladesh Muktijoddha Kalyan Trust will inform the concerned Deputy Commissioner or Upazila Nirbahi Officer in case of the death of any freedom fighter in Dhaka who has a title or was wounded during the liberation war.

Muktijoddha Sangsad, relatives of the freedom fighter or any citizen organisation can inform the authorities concerned about the death of the freedom fighter, it mentioned.
 
Even if the news of the death of a freedom fighter is published through news media or social media, the administration will be able to take steps by verifying it.
 
At the metropolitan city and district headquarters, the Deputy Commissioner and at the upazila level, the Upazila Nirbahi Officer will represent the government to pay homage to the freedom fighter.
 
Rules of paying state respect
 
The coffin of the dead freedom fighter should be covered by the national flag. However, the national flag must be unfolded before burial.
 
The authorised representative of the government will lay a floral wreath at the coffin.

Armed salutes must be given by armed members of the authorised number of police forces and bugle has to play the tune of grief.
 
The Officer-in-Charge of the concerned police station will conduct the guard of honour. 
 
In the case of retired heroic freedom fighters of the armed forces, the army has to follow its own customs.

 The order further said that the heroic freedom fighter should be buried according to his last wishes and religious principles.
 
For the indigent freedom fighters, arrangements have to be made to provide grants from the funds allocated by the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs.
