The National Citizen Party (NCP) has said it fully agrees with 113 out of the 166 recommendations made in the National Consensus Commission's spreadsheet sent to political parties.

The NCP submitted its written opinion to the National Consensus Commission at the National Parliament Complex this afternoon (23 March).

Talking to reporters afterwards, NCP Joint Convener Sarwar Tushar said, "Out of the 166 proposals in the Consensus Commission's spreadsheet, we fully agree with 113 proposals. We partially agree with 29 proposals, and we could not agree on 22 proposals."

He added, "Very important commissions, such as the Police Reform Commission and the Local Government Reform Commission, have not sent us their reports.

"We have not seen these reports, and we have asked the commission about its stance on this issue."

Tushar also said, "Although we agree and partially agree with many proposals, we have given our opinions. We have no objection to Bangla being the state language. However, we have said the language used in offices should be bureaucratic language."

He further said, "They [commission] said 10% of nominations should be given to young people. We said the maximum age limit for young people should be determined. We said that it can be up to 35 years. The minimum age for candidacy should be 23 years.

"There was a proposal for two deputy speakers, we said there should be one and it should be from the opposition party. Also, the candidates for the upper house should be announced before the election. Furthermore, the prime minister can advise the president, but there will be no legal obligation in all cases."

The NCP joint convener also said they support the proposal for a National Constitutional Council (NCC).

"If there is any complaint against the NCC, the Supreme Judicial Council can investigate it. We have proposed that no emergency should be declared during the election period, whatever the situation," he added.

He also said the term of the interim government during the election period should be 70 to 75 days.
