Finance Adviser Salehuddin Ahmed will present the Tk8 lakh crore national budget for the fiscal year of 2025-26 to the nation on 2 June.
The recorded budget speech will be broadcast on Bangladesh Television and Bangladesh Betar at 4pm that day, said an official handout today (29 May).
In addition, the speech will also be aired on private television channels and radio stations simultaneously through the feeder line of Bangladesh Television, to ensure wider coverage of the national budget.
This is the interim government's first budget. As the National Parliament is not in session, the budget is being presented via television.
On the same day, the budget is scheudled to be approved in a meeting of the Advisory Council in the morning.
It is learned that this year the finance adviser's budget speech will be quite brief. He will outline a spending target of nearly Tk8 lakh crore.
Previously, during the caretaker government periods of 2007-08 and 2008-09, then finance adviser Mirza Azizul Islam presented the budget through television.
The first time, he delivered a 38-page budget speech. The following year, Azizul's budget speech was 54 pages long.
