Nahid outlines state reform roadmap in televised address
The pre-recorded speech was aired at 7:15pm today (8 February)
Ahead of the 13th National Parliamentary election, National Citizen Party Convener Nahid Islam delivered a televised address on Bangladesh Television outlining a political and policy roadmap for state reform, democratic restructuring, and an accountable governance system.
The pre-recorded speech was aired at 7:15pm today (8 February).
He said the current state structure has failed to meet public aspirations and called for deep structural reforms.
He also alleged that the political system has suffered from power centralisation, politicised administration, and mistrust in the electoral process, with institutions serving a particular political group.
The NCP chief also criticised economic inequality, calling for job creation, inflation control, and effective social safety net programmes.
On the health sector, he said that despite claims of progress, ordinary people still do not receive proper services, alleging it has become hostage to an institutionalised "culture of plunder", and called for urgent reforms to ensure accountability, accessibility, and quality care for all.
Nahid urged curbing political influence, safeguarding freedoms and opposition space, and enhancing citizen participation through comprehensive state reforms.
