A murder case has been filed against former prime minister Sheikh Hasina, former road transport and bridges minister Obaidul Quader and 133 others over the killing of a youth, Noor Alam, 22, during the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement in Gazipur on 20 July.

"Noor Alam's father, Mohammad Amir Ali filed the case with the Gazipur Basan Police Station on Tuesday midnight (20 August)," station's Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Jahangir Alam told The Business Standard today (21 August).

Among the other accused include former home minister Asaduzzaman Khan, former liberation war affairs minister AKM Mozammel Haque, former women and children affairs minister Simin Hossain (Rimi), Gazipur Metropolitan Awami League President Azmat Ullah Khan, Gazipur City Corporation former acting mayor Asadur Rahman Kiran, and Metropolitan Awami League leader Matiur Rahman.

Additionally, 100-130 unidentified people have also been named as accused.

According to the case statement, under the orders of Sheikh Hasina, Obaidul Quader, Asaduzzaman Khan, and six others, a group of people armed with guns, pistols, sticks, iron rods, rams, sickles, and knives attacked the protesting students near Honey Moon Restaurant on Dhaka-Mymensingh road around 10am on 20 July.

The attackers brutally assaulted the protesters, injuring approximately 25-30 students. Subsequently, Azmat Ullah and Asadur Rahman, along with other unidentified individuals, opened fire on the protesters, resulting in Noor Alam's death from a gunshot wound in the head.

Noor Alam, hailed from Mollapara Modho Kumorpur village in Kurigram Sadar, and was residing with his family as a tenant in a house in Telipara area.
