Motorcyclist killed in hit-and-run accident in Chattogram's Sitakunda
Police say they are continuing efforts to trace the vehicle and are investigating the incident as a hit-and-run case
A 37-year-old motorcyclist was killed early today (12 June) morning after being hit by an unidentified vehicle in the Kadamrasul area under Sitakunda upazila of Chattogram.
The fatal accident occurred around 6:00am in the Kadamrasul area under Bhatiari Union on the Dhaka-Chattogram Highway, according to the Baroaulia Highway Police and local sources.
The deceased was identified as Md Abdur Rahim, son of Md Azhar Khan hailing from Monir Building area on Akmal Ali Road near Chattogram Port. He was reportedly riding his motorcycle along the Chattogram-bound lane of the highway when a vehicle, travelling in the same direction, struck him from behind and fled the scene. Rahim died on the spot.
Confirming the incident, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Bar Aulia Highway Police Station Md Abdul Momin said, "An unidentified vehicle hit the motorcyclist in the Kadamrasul area, causing his immediate death. We have recovered the body, but the vehicle involved could not be identified yet."
Police are continuing their efforts to trace the vehicle and are investigating the incident as a hit-and-run case.
