Milestone tragedy: Three burn victims discharged from burn institute
29 remain under treatment at burn institute, including 25 children

Three people, including two children, have been discharged from the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery following treatment for injuries sustained in the tragic Bangladesh Air Force jet crash at Milestone School and College.
Among the three, two are children – one is 11 years old and the other is 9. The third person, who has been discharged, is 55 years old, said Dr Shawon Bin Rahman, resident surgeon at the institute, in a press release issued today (31 July).
As of now, 29 patients are still receiving treatment at the facility, including 25 children and 4 adults, Dr Shawon said.
Among the children, 16 are girls and 9 are boys. The adult patients consist of three women and one man, he added.
He further said two patients were in the intensive care unit (ICU) yesterday (30 July), but one has since improved and was moved to the high dependency unit (HDU). Currently, one person remains in the ICU.
In addition, five patients are in the HDU, seven in the post-operative ward, and 16 are being treated in cabins, he said in the release.
Prof Dr Md Nasir Uddin, director of the institute, said 56 people were admitted to the hospital following the incident. Among them, 18 have died.
So far, eight people have been discharged, and one patient has been transferred to the National Institute of Mental Health in the capital's Sher-e-Bangla Nagar, he said.
The condition of 10 admitted patients remains critical, with five suffering burns over more than 30% of their bodies, Dr Nasir added.
