Milestone's Diabari campus reopens, 13 days after tragic plane crash claimed 34 lives

Milestone School and College in the capital's Uttara area reopened today (3 August), 13 days after an aircraft crashed into one of its buildings -- killing 34 people, mostly children, and injuring more than 100 others.
Though the school has resumed activities, no regular classes or examinations were scheduled for today.
The day began with a memorial event for those who lost their lives in the crash.

Students were seen on campus this morning, many still visibly shaken. Several said they continue to feel anxious, especially when planes fly overhead.
Guardians gathered near the damaged building also expressed concern, saying they fear a repeat of such a tragedy.

Shah Bulbul, public relations officer of the school, said in a statement yesterday evening (2 August) that the decision to reopen was made to support students' mental well-being and help them gradually return to a normal routine.

He also noted that counselling services are being provided on campus, and a medical camp run by the Bangladesh Air Force is offering physical and psychological support.
