Mild earthquake shakes Dhaka, other parts of Bangladesh, epicentre in Sikkim
The earthquake, which occurred at 12:04pm, had its epicentre 455 kilometres northwest of Dhaka.
A mild earthquake was felt in the capital Dhaka and several other parts of Bangladesh around 12:04pm today (26 February), originating in Sikkim, India.
According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), the tremor, which measured 4.8 on the Richter scale and the epicentre was located in Gyalshing of West Sikkim in India, about 455 kilometres northwest of the Bangladesh Meteorological Department's seismic monitoring centre in Agargaon.
The earthquake, which occurred at 12:04pm, had its epicentre 455 kilometres northwest of Dhaka.
Earlier yesterday (25 February), a 5.1-magnitude earthquake in Myanmar was felt in Dhaka and several other parts of Bangladesh.
The epicentre of that quake was in Myanmar, approximately 462 kilometres east of the BMD seismic centre in Agargaon.
