Midnight hacking in Mohammadpur leaves 1 dead

A young man was hacked to death, and his body was recovered with multiple stab injuries in Mohammadpur.
The deceased has been identified as Asadul Haque, also known as Lambu Asadul, 28.
The incident took place around 12:50am today (16 April) on a road adjacent to Sadek Khan's brickfield in the Rayerbazar Beribadh area of Mohammadpur.
The deceased, Asadul, was the son of Jalil Sardar from Kalna area under Gournadi upazila in Barishal district and had been living with his family in a rented apartment in Block B of Metro Housing in Mohammadpur.
Police and local sources said pedestrians spotted the body lying on the road in the middle of the night and informed police.
Later, police recovered the body, prepared an inquest report, and sent it to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
The victim sustained multiple stab injuries to his chest and back, police said.
The incident was confirmed by the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) of Mohammadpur Zone under DMP Md Juel Rana.
He told The Business Standard that several cases, including those related to drugs and mugging, were filed against Asadul at Mohammadpur Police Station earlier. "We are investigating who was involved in the killing. Multiple teams are already working in the field," he said.
