Menon, Inu, Palak shown arrested in another July uprising murder case

A Dhaka court has freshly shown arrested Workers' Party President Rashed Khan Menon, Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) President Hasanul Haq Inu, and former state minister Junaid Ahmed Palak in connection with the killing of student Mahadi Hasan Pantho during last year's July uprising.
Metropolitan Magistrate Md Sefatullah passed the order today (4 August) after a hearing on a police petition.
Sub-Inspector Md Arif Hossain of Kadamtoli Police Station, the investigating officer in the case, submitted the application in court.
According to the case statement, Mahadi Hasan Pantho, an 18-year-old HSC candidate from Govt Tolaram College, was shot in the head during a protest in Dhaka's Kadamtoli area around 4pm on 19 July 2024.
He was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The case was filed with Kadamtoli Police Station on 8 November.
In the First Information Report (FIR), Menon is listed as accused No. 7, Inu as No. 8, and Palak as No. 9.
Palak was arrested on 14 August from the Nikunja area under Khilkhet Police Station. Menon was detained from Gulshan on 22 August, and Inu was arrested on 26 August from a residence in Uttara.
They had been shown arrested in other cases related to killings during the July-August uprising previously.
