Govt has no intention of interfering in journalism: Andaleeve
The minister also said people's opinions and various crises facing the country have come to light through the media.
The government had no intention of interfering in journalism or in the freedom of media, Information Minister Andaleeve Rahman Partho.
Speaking at a programme marking the 31st founding anniversary of the Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU), Partho said, "We have no intention whatsoever of interfering with the media or in your work as journalists."
Partho said the media has played an important role in bringing the country to its current stage and deserves equal credit for the progress made in democracy.

"Today, where we are is because of the role of the media. The media deserves equal credit for whatever stage of democracy we are at," Partho added.
The information minister said the government wanted to allow the media to work independently.
He further said that journalists have played an important role in establishing democracy and bringing people's voices to the forefront.
The minister also said people's opinions and various crises facing the country have come to light through the media.
He further mentioned that the Prime Minister believes in inclusive efforts with all stakeholders, expressing optimism that working together will help transform Bangladesh into its envisioned "Sonar Bangla".
