Max Hospital once again, another child dies of medical 'negligence'
The child's mother blames the hospital's mismanagement and demands redress
A one-month-old child Zihan Sarowar Prio has died of "medical negligence" and wrong treatment at Max Hospital in Chattogram, alleged his mother, Mohsina Akhter Jhorna.
Zihan was admitted to the hospital on November 17. His family, on November 21, alleged that he died instantly after he was given an injection by the hospital.
In a written complaint to the civil surgeon of Chattogram Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi, Mohsina criticised the hospital's mismanagement regarding her child's safety and demanded redress.

"I want them to find out why my child died. He was okay even half an hour ago," she lamented.
Mohsina alleged that the hospital did not let them see the test reports and she was unaware of whether the medication given to her child was expired or not.
Civil Surgeon Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi confirmed receiving the complaint and assured that they would investigate the matter, adding that if any wrongdoing is found, the hospital would be punished.
However, Managing Director of Max Hospital Dr Liaquat Ali Khan told The Business Standard that the child was treated according to the rules.
He claimed, "The child had meningitis. Such patients' health can deteriorate at any moment. There was no negligence on the part of the physicians."
Earlier in June 2018, another child named Rafida Khan Raifa, aged four had died under the hospital's care. Afterwards, an investigation committee formed by the Civil Surgeon of Chattogram, had submitted a report stating that Max Hospital's negligence caused Rafida's death.
As Rafida's father Rubel Khan had filed a case against the people involved, a Rapid Action Battalion mobile court led a raid and fined the hospital Tk10 Lakh for irregularities.
