Man’s eyes gouged out, limbs broken by locals over theft allegation in Bhola

A man in Bhola's Char Fasson Upazila was brutally assaulted by a group of angry locals who accused him of theft, breaking his limbs and gouging out both his eyes.
The victim, identified as Md Shahjahan Mintiz, 40, has been sent to Dhaka for advanced medical treatment.
Police have yet to make any arrests in connection with the incident.
The incident occurred yesterday morning (2 March) in Char Arkalmi village under Ward No 4 of Nazrul Nagar Union in Char Fasson, confirmed police and locals.
Shahjahan is the son of Chidu from the same village.
According to his family, locals suspected Shahjahan of theft, forcibly took him from his home, and subjected him to a severe beating before breaking his arms and legs and gouging out his eyes.
According to sources, locals spotted Shahjahan near his home in the morning and began chasing him. They apprehended him from the house of one Jahangir Farazi. Then he was brutally beaten, resulting in broken limbs. As the attack escalated, they gouged out both his eyes as well.
A village police officer later rescued Shahjahan and took him to Char Fasson Upazila Health Complex for treatment. After providing primary treatment, doctors referred him to Dhaka for advanced medical care.
Dr Riaz Uddin, emergency medical officer at the health complex, confirmed the severity of the victim's injuries. "He was brought to us with broken limbs and eyes gouged out. After providing initial treatment, we sent him to Dhaka for better treatment."
South Aicha Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Ershadul Haque Bhuiyan said legal measures will be taken against those responsible.
