A suspected criminal has shot a man for not withdrawing a case filed against him in Noakhali's Begumganj upazila.

The bullet injured is Omar Farooq, 30, son of Khurshid Alam of Devkala village in Gopalpur union.

Confirming the incident, Begumganj Model Police Station OC Muhammad Kamruzzaman Sikder said that the accused local criminal "Kala Babu" had shot Omar on Tuesday as he had not withdrawn the case filed in connection with attacking him.

The critically injured Omar was admitted to Noakhali General Hospital at around 10 pm.

The injured Farooq claimed that that the local criminal Kala Babu, son of Zafar Ullah of Mollapur village, was threatening him in various ways for withdrawing the case

"He came to our house at around 9 pm and shot me on the left side of my chest," said Farooq.

On information, police visited the spot.

According to local sources, Farooq had previously lodged a case against "Kala Babu" for attacking him and injuring his head. 

Since then, "Kala Babu" has been threatening Farooq in various ways to take up the case.
