Khalid Monsur, officer-in-charge of Banani Police Station, said that a case is being filed in connection with the incident
A man was shot by unidentified individuals in the capital's Mohakhali area on Sunday afternoon (21 December), police said.
The incident occurred around 3:30pm near the TB Gate in Mohakhali, in the area of a nursing institute currently under construction.
The injured man has been identified as Md Nazimuddin, 42, who works as a site manager at the construction project.
Khalid Monsur, officer-in-charge of Banani Police Station, said that a case is being filed in connection with the incident.
Police said the shooting was linked to an extortion demand related to the project.
According to Nazimuddin's younger brother, Azimuddin, the assailants went to the construction site in the afternoon searching for an engineer. When they failed to find him, they reportedly assaulted Nazimuddin and shot him in the leg before fleeing the scene.
Nazimuddin was later taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for treatment.
