A 65-year-old man was killed after being hit by a train while crossing the railway tracks in the capital's Karwan Bazar rail gate area this noon (7 May).

The deceased was identified as Md Lokman Hadania, 65, hailing from Laldia area in Chandpur Sadarin Chandpur district. He was a resident of Merul Badda in Dhaka.

Abdullah Noman, a pedestrian who took Lokman to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, said he suffered serious injuries after being hit by a train while crossing the rail tracks.

Doctors declared him dead at around 1:00pm, said Inspector Md Faruk, in-charge of the DMCH police camp.

He said the body was kept at the hospital morgue.

The railway police were informed of the incident, he added.
