Man killed, 4 others injured in Cox’s Bazar highway robbery
A gang of robbers set up a rope trap across a road to stop vehicles, and when two motorcycles reached the spot, the robbers stopped them, beat up the riders and looted their belongings, say police.

A man was killed and four others were injured after being assaulted during a robbery on the Cox's Bazar–Chattogram highway in Chakaria early today (19 September).
The deceased was Mahmudul Haque, 33, a resident of Balukhali in Palongkhali Union of Ukhiya Upazila.
The robbery occurred at around 12:30am in the Malumghat area of Dulahazara Union, said Chakaria Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Touhidul Anwar.
He added that the identities of the injured could not be confirmed immediately.
Quoting witnesses, the OC said a gang of robbers set up a rope trap across the road to stop vehicles in the Malumghat area, adding that when two motorcycles reached the spot, the robbers stopped them, beat up the riders and looted their belongings.
Five people were injured in the attack.
The injured were taken to Chakaria Upazila Health Complex, where doctors declared Mahmudul dead.
The body has been sent to the Cox's Bazar District Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.
Police have launched a drive to identify and arrest those involved, OC Touhidul said.
