Man confesses to killing wife, mother-in-law in Kalabagan
The court records the accused’s statement and ordered him to jail after he surrendered at Kalabagan Police Station.
A man arrested for allegedly stabbing his wife and mother-in-law to death in the capital's Kalabagan area has given a confessional statement before court today (3 August).
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Jamshed Alam recorded his confessional statement and sent him to jail, confirmed Dhaka Metropolitan Prosecution Division Sub-Inspector Mazharul Islam.
According to the case statement, the accused, Md Hridoy alias Shipon, 30, voluntarily surrendered at Kalabagan Police Station and was subsequently shown arrested in the case yesterday (2 August).

Following the incident, Ratri's father, Md Faruk, filed a murder case with Kalabagan Police Station over the deaths of Hridoy's wife, Farzana Akter Ratri, 21, and mother-in-law, Firoza Begum, 35.
Police later recovered the knife used in the killings from the complainant's rented home based on information provided by the accused.
According to the complaint, Hridoy and Ratri had been married for around five years and had a one-year-old son. They frequently had arguments over family matters, the complaint said.
Yesterday, the couple got into an argument at around 9:30am at their rented home in Kathalbagan, under Kalabagan Police Station. At one point, Hridoy allegedly took a sharp kitchen knife and stabbed Ratri, killing her on the spot.
When Firoza tried to intervene to save her daughter, Hridoy allegedly stabbed her in the neck, shoulder and hand. Later, she was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital in critical condition, where doctors declared her dead.
