Man arrested over attempted rape of four-year-old in Kushtia
Police have arrested a 55-year-old man in a case filed over the attempted rape of a four-year-old child in Daulatpur upazila of Kushtia district.
Confirming the matter, Daulatpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Nazmul Huda said the accused, Sahajul Fakir, has been sent to jail through a court order yesterday (14 March).
The child had given a statement in court, he added.

According to police and local sources, the child was alone in her house on the afternoon of 1 March when Sahajul Fakir, a mason by profession, was passing by. He saw that the child was alone and tried to rape her. When the child started crying, her mother quickly came to the spot and saw the accused. At that time, Sahajul quickly fled.
Locals said an attempt was made to resolve the matter without reporting to the authorities but the child's father did not agree to compromise. Later, when the incident came to light, the police brought the child's father and accused Sahajul to the police station on Thursday (13 March).
The child's father filed a case with the police station that night and then police arrested the accused.
