Man allegedly beaten to death on suspicion of theft in Kushtia
According to police and local sources, Surman had an ongoing dispute with a neighbour over theft in his house

A man was allegedly beaten to death on suspicion of theft in the Char Thanapara area of Kushtia town.
His body was found early today (10 April) near a toilet a few houses away from his residence, confirmed Kushtia Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mosharraf Hossain.
The deceased has been identified as Surman Ali, 35, son of Kalam Hossain, a resident of Char Thanapara. He worked as a rickshaw puller.
Following preliminary examination, Kushtia Model Police Station sent the body to Kushtia General Hospital morgue for autopsy.
OC Mosharraf Hossain said, "Surman was tortured to death over allegations of theft. He might have died during the assault. Legal action will be taken in this regard."
According to police and local sources, Surman had an ongoing dispute with a neighbour, Abdul Hakim. Accused of being involved in a theft at Hakim's house, Surman was reportedly taken from his home by 10 to 12 local residents.
Around 6:30am today, locals found his lifeless body lying beside a toilet near a neighbour's house, with a scarf wrapped tightly around his neck.
Upon receiving information, police from Kushtia Model Station arrived at the scene. OC Mosharraf Hossain confirmed that there were visible signs of torture on the body and said police are actively working to apprehend those responsible for the killing.
