BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said the spirit of the liberation war could not be confined within any boundaries.

He made the remarks after paying homage to the martyrs of the Liberation War at the National Memorial in Savar at around 10am on Wednesday (16 December).

Mirza Fakhrul said, "The future generations need to know the true history of the liberation war in order to actualise the dreams of the war heroes and uphold the virtuous spirit."

Urging the nation to stay united, he said, "We pledge to continue our fight to liberate the people of the country and turn it into an ideal state."

He further added, "Our party (BNP) chairperson is being kept in jail in false case. We will continue our battle for her release." 

During the occasion, BNP Vice Chairman Dr AZM Zahid, Adviser Abdus Salam, Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, Joint Secretary General Khairul Kabir Khokon, Habib-un-Nabi Khan Sohail, Publicity Affairs Secretary Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie, Juba Dal General Secretary Sultan Salauddin Tuku were present among many others.
