Security tightened around US Embassy in Dhaka following terror threat
A senior DMP official, speaking on condition of anonymity, confirmed the deployment of SWAT personnel

Security measures around the US Embassy in Dhaka have been strengthened following specific intelligence about a possible militant attack.
At the request of the embassy, a specialised unit of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) — the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team — was deployed to the Baridhara diplomatic zone late last night (13 October). The elite force is specially trained to respond to potential terrorist incidents.
A senior DMP official, speaking on condition of anonymity, confirmed the deployment of SWAT personnel.
"We were not given detailed information about the nature of the threat. However, the SWAT team remains stationed there at the embassy's request," the official said.
According to another police source, the deployment took place around 9:30pm.
A police intelligence unit has reportedly obtained photos of three suspected individuals believed to be linked to the potential attack. Based on this information, the Special Branch (SB) of the police sent a confidential letter to the DMP commissioner, instructing immediate enhancement of security around the embassy and nearby areas.
When contacted, Deputy police commissioner Mohammad Nure Alam of the Diplomatic Security Division declined to make any immediate comment on the matter.
