Companiganj OC transferred over involvement in Sada Pathor looting
OC Uzair Al Mahmud Adnan told TBS he had heard about the transfer but had not yet received the official notice

Amid a major graft investigation and widespread criticism, the officer-in-charge (OC) of Companiganj Police Station, Uzair Al Mahmud Adnan, has reportedly been transferred over his alleged involvement in the theft of stones from Sylhet's Sada Pathor.
Sylhet Superintendent of Police (SP) Md Mahbubur Rahman confirmed the transfer yesterday (31 August).
Meanwhile, Md Ratan Sheikh, who previously served as the OC of Shibchar Police Station in Shariatpur and as the in-charge of Jaflong Tourist Police from 2019 to 2024, has been appointed as the new OC of Companiganj.
However, OC Uzair Al Mahmud Adnan told The Business Standard he had heard about the transfer but had not yet received the official notice.
Adnan's replacement, Ratan Sheikh, also said he was aware of the news but had not received a formal notification.
The transfer follows an investigation report by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), which found serious allegations against the OC Adnan and other policemen.
The anti-graft body's report stated that the police actively aided in the illegal extraction of stones by taking various amounts of commissions from illegal stone traders.
After nationwide criticism over the unprecedented plundering of state resources, an ACC team, led by Assistant Director Rafi Md Nazmus Sadat, inspected the Sada Pathor area on 13 August and submitted their investigation report to their higher authorities three days later.
The report noted that the police collected bribe money through their specific sources from each truck and boat used to transfer the illegally extracted stones.
