Advocate Azizur Rahman Dulu has been appointed as special public prosecutor
The Ministry of Law has appointed a special public prosecutor to ensure the speedy and proper trial proceedings in the Ramisa rape and murder case.
A gazette notification in this regard was issued by the Law and Justice Division today (23 May).
According to the notification, Advocate Azizur Rahman Dulu has been appointed as special public prosecutor under Section 492 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1898.
He will represent the state in Pallabi Police Station Case No 35, dated 20 May 2026, which is currently under trial at the Dhaka Metropolitan Children Violence Suppression Tribunal.
The government said the appointment was made to facilitate the swift and fair completion of the trial process in the Ramisa murder case.
Ramisa, a second-grade student of Mirpur Popular Model School, was raped and killed allegedly by a tenant living in a neighbouring flat in Pallabi on Tuesday last.
Police said the suspect, Sohel Rana, lured the child into his room after she left her flat in the morning. He then allegedly raped and killed her.
On Thursday night, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman visited Ramisa's residence in Pallabi and met her grieving parents and elder sister.
