Law enforcers raid ex-minister Mirza Azam's Dhanmondi house
The sources said they had received information that Mirza Azam might be staying in the house, which led to the operation

Law enforcement agencies have raided a house in Dhanmondi around midnight, suspecting the presence of former jute and textile minister Mirza Azam.
However, they did not find him there.
Around 10pm last night (18 February), members of RAB surrounded the house on Dhanmondi 28. Some of them entered the house at around 11:15pm, initiating the operation.
Besides RAB, police, Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) and National Security Intelligence (NSI) members were involved in the operation.
"This operation was primarily launched based on intelligence provided by RAB. Police members were present there. There is information that an influential leader of the Awami League might be staying in that house. Until the operation is concluded, we cannot provide further details," said Masud Alam, deputy commissioner (DC) of Ramna Division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) during the operation.
Sources from RAB's Legal and Media Wing and officers involved in the operation said the raid was conducted based on specific intelligence.
They said several ministers and MPs of the Awami League used to reside in that house. They fled after the government fell on 5 August 2024.

Mirza Azam is the Organisational Secretary of the Awami League's Central Committee. He was elected as a member of parliament multiple times from the Jamalpur-3 constituency under the boat symbol.
