Unidentified individuals attacked, vandalised and set fire to Lalon Anand Dham in Motra village of Bhanga upazila in Faridpur in the early hours of Monday (30 September).

During the incident, Lalon's photograph, valuable books, journals, and several musical instruments such as the ektara, dotara, baya, juri, and guitar were torched.

According to locals, Syed Zahid Hasan, assistant professor of Bengali at Sadarpur Government College established the Lalon Anand Dham in 2013.

They said the Anand Dham served as a hub for scholarly activities related to folk literature, hosting regular readings, research, and discussions, attacking teachers, researchers, and students from various universities across Bangladesh.

Following the attack, Zahid Hasan filed a complaint at Bhanga Police Station.

Moksedur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Bhanga Police Station, stated that he visited the scene after receiving a complaint last night.

He assured that legal action would be taken following a thorough investigation.
