'Lack of coordination, law violation': Govt dissolves HAAB executive committee, appoints administrator
The government appointed Md Daudul Islam, joint secretary of Central Digital Commerce Cell, as the organisation’s administrator

The government has dissolved the executive committee of the Hajj Agencies Association of Bangladesh (HAAB), alleging that the committee is failing to operate in compliance with the relevant law.
The government also appointed Md Daudul Islam, joint secretary of Central Digital Commerce Cell, as the organisation's administrator under Section 17 of the Trade Organisations Act, 2022, reads an office order issued by the Ministry of Commerce today (15 October).
Daudul is tasked with organising a fair and impartial election of the committee within 120 days and handing over the responsibility to the elected committee, adds the notice.
Regarding the dissolution of the existing committee, the ministry said HAAB is an organisation registered under the commerce ministry.
"The representatives of the present executive committee of the HAAB have not been able to present a satisfactory response to the separate complaints filed by the Anti-Discrimination Hajj Agency Owners, Trade Tours and Travels, East Bangla Hajj Service Limited, and former HAAB executive member and the proprietor of Al Nafi Travels," reads the notice.
It also states that the HAAB committee failed to coordinate with its general members in ensuring smooth operations of the organisation, which has led to chaos and dissatisfaction in Hajj travel management.
"Due to lack of coordination, the overall activities of the organisation appear to be not being properly conducted in the interest of trade, industry, commerce and service sector under Section 17(1) of the Trade Organizations Act, 2022."
