Kuet VC leaves campus amid student protests
Amidst the ongoing student protests, Professor Mohammad Masud, vice-chancellor of Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET), has left the campus this evening citing medical reasons.
He departed from his Kuet residence and headed for Dhaka for three days to receive medical treatment, the university's Public Relations Officer Shaheduzzaman Shaikh confirmed the matter.
VC Masud was hospitalised yesterday at Kuet's medical centre after being locked up by a group of protesting students the night before following a clash on campus earlier on the day.

Earlier today, VC Masud himself mentioned falling sick, saying, "On Tuesday [18 February], a group of students came to me and said they were attacked and blamed me for the failure, urging me to resign. However, I asked them why I should accept the failure. I have agreed to all their legitimate demands. At that time, some students attacked me. Later, I was admitted to Kuet's medical centre, and I have been unwell ever since."
As of this afternoon, Kuet students remained steadfast in their demand for the resignation of the vice-chancellor, pro-vice-chancellor, and director of student welfare following the recent attack on campus.
At a press briefing, the students reiterated their stance and said they will not participate in any academic activities under the administration.
They further expressed concerns for their safety, citing the administration's failure to explicitly acknowledge Chhatra Dal's involvement in the attack.
