Khokon, who was injured in July uprising, to be sent Russia for advanced treatment tomorrow

The interim government will send Khokon Chandra Barman, a seriously injured fighter of the 2024 July uprising, to Russia tomorrow for advanced treatment.
The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MOHFW) will send him to Moscow' University Clinic of M.V. Lomonosov on Friday morning on a flight of Qatar Airways.
As Khokon's bullet wounds caused serious damages and loss of his upper lip, gums, nose, and palate, no hospital except Moscow' University Clinic of M.V. Lomonosov agreed to treat him.
He will be primarily evaluated there and a model will be prepared to bring his face to its normal state using advanced 3D animation technologies.
The main surgery of reconstructing his face might begin after a month, sources said.
Injured Khokon Chandra Barman was shot in the face in front of the Jatrabari Police Station on 5 August last year during the July uprising.
MOHFW has sent a total of 38 injured to Singapore and Thailand for advanced treatments and three of those injured returned home after receiving treatment.
