‘Kacchi Bhai’ fined Tk1 lakh in Faridpur over use of harmful chemicals, unhygienic practices
The restaurant makes no compromise on the quality of food, says the restaurant manager
Kacchi Bhai restaurant in Faridpur has been fined Tk1 lakh by a mobile court for using banned chemicals and textile-grade red dye in food preparation, as well as for operating in unhygienic conditions.
The fine was imposed during a raid conducted at the restaurant's New Market branch in the Alipur Mor area of the city today (13 August).
The operation was led by Executive Magistrate and Assistant Commissioner (AC) in the District Commissioner's Office Md Atikur Rahman.
"In violation of the Food Safety Act, Kacchi Bhai was found using prohibited chemicals and preparing food in an unsafe environment. As a result, we have imposed a Tk 1 lakh fine on the establishment," said Atikur.
Kachchi Bhai restaurant Manager Md Asaduzzaman stated that the section under which they were fined did not specify the color of the cloth.
"The fine was issued for not having enough health certificates, a copy of the level date, and a dealing certificate from the DC office," he said.
Asaduzzaman added, "The restaurant makes no compromise on the quality of our food and that our main goal is the highest level of customer service."
According to court sources, the raid followed a tip-off.
During the inspection, officials found that the restaurant was mixing harmful substances —including a red dye typically used in fabric coloring — into its food items. Additionally, the kitchen and overall premises were found to be in an unsanitary state.
