July Memorial Museum to showcase 16 years of Hasina’s ‘misrule’
The museum aims to instill awareness and build a strong resistance against misrule among the public, says the chief adviser

The July Memorial Museum will feature the "misrule" of Sheikh Hasina's 16-year tenure, including events such as the Pilkhana massacre, the Shapla Chattar incident, vote rigging, and other alleged atrocities.
The exhibits will present these events as historical information for visitors.
Representatives of the Museum Construction Authority shared the update with Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus at a meeting at the State Guest House Jamuna this afternoon (20 September), reads a press release.
At the meeting, Cultural Affairs Adviser Mostofa Sarwar Farooki said the museum is expected to be completed by 31 October, with an inauguration planned for the first week of November.
"We are curating images and materials to ensure the history of 16 years of misrule is preserved," he said.
The chief adviser thanked all involved in the museum's construction, emphasising that visitors should feel the impact of the people's resistance during 5 August at Ganabhaban.
"The museum aims to instill awareness and build a strong resistance against misrule among the public," he added.
Tanjim Wahab, chief curator, said the museum is being developed in coordination with the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) prosecution team and the commission for investigation into disappearances.
"Stories of the 16 years of rule will be presented in sequence, showing how Sheikh Hasina governed the country," he said.
Mostafa Sarwar Farooqui added that audio recordings of orders for disappearances and murders, as well as accounts of victims' families receiving false assurances, will be part of the exhibits.
The museum will also feature a screening centre for documentaries on this period, he added.
