Jucsu polls: Prof Mafruhi resigned for 'failing to push personal agenda', says Shibir candidate
Speaking at an emergency press briefing tonight (12 September), Ferdous said, “He resigned because he could not push his own agenda. The question is, if the election was really full of irregularities, why did it take him 30 hours to step down?”

Shibir-backed "Sammilito Chhatra Jote" panel's assistant general secretary (AGS) candidate Ferdous Al Hasan has questioned the resignation of the Jahangirnagar University Central Students' Union (Jucsu) election commission member Professor Mohammad Mafruhi Sattar.
Speaking at an emergency press briefing tonight (12 September), Ferdous said, "He resigned because he could not push his own agenda. The question is, if the election was really full of irregularities, why did it take him 30 hours to step down?"
Around 8pm, at a separate press conference, Professor Mafruhi announced his resignation, citing widespread irregularities and the commission's failure to act on complaints during the polls.
He said he had proposed suspending the election, but as the commission ignored his request and resumed counting.
Professor Sattar is a faculty member of the university's Pharmacy Department and also serves as the president of the JU branch of the Nationalist Teachers' Forum.
Yesterday, three other members of the Nationalist Teachers' Forum — Professor Nahrin Islam Khan of the Geography and Environment Department, Professor Nazrul Islam of the Mathematics Department, and Professor Shamima of the Bangla Department Sultana — boycotted the election, citing widespread irregularities and administrative misconduct.
