JU students seize 28 Rajdhani Paribahan buses after student pushed off moving bus

Students of Jahangirnagar University (JU) have seized 28 buses belonging to Rajdhani Paribahan, which operates on the Dhaka-Aricha Highway, in protest after a female student was allegedly pushed off a moving bus of the company.
The incident occurred yesterday (2 September) evening when Halima Khatun, a student of the 2020–21 academic session at the Department of Public Administration, was returning to campus from private tuition.
She said in a Facebook post following the incident that she boarded a Rajdhani Paribahan bus at the Savar Thana bus stand. Upon informing the bus staff that she was headed to Jahangirnagar University, the helper allegedly pushed her out of the vehicle. "The bus had already started moving, and I fell off. I suffered injuries to my leg."
Halima was later treated at the university's medical centre.
JU Proctor Rashidul Alam said they have declined a request from the bus owners to release the vehicles. "We will sit with the bus owners at 12pm tomorrow. Until then, we don't see any reason to release the buses. We will make a decision after discussions."
