JU protestors urge chancellor to sack VC

The protesting teachers and students of Jahangirnagar University have urged the Chancellor to sack Vice-chancellor Farzana Islam and ensure her punishment.

They made the demands at a rally in front of the old administrative building today.

Terming her a liar and hypocrite, the protestors said, "She ordered Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), JU unit, members to swoop on the protestors yesterday. She is openly involved in corruption."

Kamrul Hasan, a professor of philosophy department, said, "The vice-chancellor told us she called in the members of the BCL for a casual discussion on September 12."

"However, a day later, she informed us the BCL leaders claimed six percent extortion from the developmental work of the university," he added.

The vice-chancellor lied to the teachers and played a dubious role, he continued.

So, she did not deserve to hold the position, added the professor.
