They were taken out of jail at around 7pm to attend the namaz-e-janaza of Rupa's mother Hosne Ara Begum in Mymensingh's Ghagra area, Kashimpur Central Jail sources confirmed to The Business Standard.
Kashimpur Women's Central Jail Super Kawalin Nahar said, "They will be brought back after the funeral is over."
Rupa's nephew Nabanil Sarkar told reporters that Hosne Ara Begum died at 7pm yesterday.
Following the family's request, Farzana Rupa was released from Kashimpur Women's Central Jail at around 6:45pm today.
Rupa, the chief reporter and presenter of private channel Ekattor TV, and her husband, Shakil Ahmed, the chief news editor of Ekattor TV, were arrested from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka on 21 August in connection with a murder during the July-August mass uprising.
