Job seekers block Shahbagh intersection demanding PSC reforms

Job seekers blocked the Shahbagh intersection in the capital today (27 April), demanding reforms to the Public Service Commission (PSC).
They marched from the Raju Memorial Sculpture at Dhaka University to Shahbagh this afternoon.
Later, they blocked the intersection around 7pm, Shahbagh Police Station Officer-in-Charge Khalid Mansur told The Business Standard.
As of 7:30pm, the blockade is still in place.
"Traffic is halted due to the students' blockade. We are at the scene. We are trying to normalise traffic by discussing with the students," Khalid said.
Earlier, job seekers demonstrated in the Shahbagh area yesterday with a seven-point charter of demands.
They demand proper measures to prevent question leaks, resolve candidate sufferings, allocate 100 marks for the viva exam from the 45th Bangladesh Civil Service exams onwards, allow re-choosing cadres, increase non-cadre posts, and ensure jobs for all who pass the viva.
They also demanded speeding up answer sheet evaluations, ensuring answer sheets are checked within the commission to maintain neutrality, and increasing the number of commission members from 25 to 30 through an ordinance.
