Jamaat's Satkhira-3 candidate served show-cause notice for code of conduct violation
Kaliganj Upazila Nirbahi Officer Tania Akter, also assistant returning officer, said the actions violated Rules 7(a) and 18 of the electoral code of conduct.
Jamaat-e-Islami candidate Rabiul Bashar has been served a show-cause notice for violating the electoral code of conduct in the Satkhira-3 (Kaliganj–Assasuni) constituency.
On the notice, issued yesterday (22 January), the Kaliganj upazila assistant returning officer's office said posters bearing the election symbol of the candidate's party, "scale," were displayed at various locations in Kaliganj and Assasuni upazilas, despite posters being prohibited under election rules.
Kaliganj Upazila Nirbahi Officer Tania Akter, also assistant returning officer, said the actions violated Rules 7(a) and 18 of the electoral code of conduct.
She said the candidate has been instructed to remove all illegal campaign materials immediately.
The notice also asked the candidate to appear in person and submit a written explanation by 25 January, explaining why legal action should not be taken against him for breaching the code of conduct.
Tania added that the administration will take a strict stance against any violation of election rules and ensure enforcement of the code of conduct during the election period.
