Jamaat-e-Islami submits reform proposals to National Consensus Commission
"We have said that elections should be held as soon as possible after reaching a consensus on the required reforms,” said Mia Golam Parwar

A delegation from Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, led by Secretary General Mia Golam Parwar, submitted reform proposals to the National Consensus Commission's Vice-Chairman Professor Ali Riaz at the Consensus Commission office in the National Parliament Building today (20 March).
The proposals covered reforms in several key areas, including the Constitutional Reform Commission, Public Administration Reform Commission, Electoral Reform Commission, Judiciary Reform Commission, and the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
Following the submission, a press briefing was held where a journalist asked whether there was any pressure regarding holding elections after implementing reforms.
In response, Vice-Chairman Ali Riaz said, "We are under no pressure. Political parties want to cooperate on the issue of reforms."
Mia Golam Parwar also addressed the media, stressing the need to finalise necessary reforms before proceeding with national elections.
"We have said that elections should be held as soon as possible after reaching a consensus on the required reforms," he said.
Jamaat-e-Islami proposed adopting a proportional representation (PR) electoral system and expressed partial agreement on forming a national constitutional council.
The party reiterated its commitment to supporting constructive reforms and urged their swift implementation to ensure timely elections.
The meeting was part of the commission's ongoing discussions with political parties to build consensus on the proposed reforms.
