Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Shafiqur Rahman has accused Sheikh Hasina of attempting to incite unrest in Bangladesh despite fleeing the country, warning that the people will not tolerate such actions.

Speaking at a public rally in Narayanganj's Fatullah today, he claimed, "Hasina and her party leaders have plundered the country's wealth and laundered it abroad. The interim government must recover this stolen money."

He further alleged that Tk26 lakh crore had been syphoned off in the past 15 years under the previous government, stating that this money should be used for public welfare.

The rally, held at Osmani Stadium, was the first large-scale gathering organised by the Narayanganj district and metropolitan units of Jamaat in nearly 15 years.

Shafiqur Rahman also accused the Awami League of dividing the nation over the past 54 years, beginning with its policies towards ethnic communities.

"They declared that we are all Bengalis, but when the ethnic people protested, the division began and continues to this day. As long as this division persists, national unity will remain elusive," he said.

He further criticised the former ruling party for allegedly destroying constitutional institutions, including the judiciary and administration, and pledged that Jamaat would prioritise educational reforms and employment generation if allowed to serve the people.

"Our students will not remain unemployed after graduation, and women will receive the highest level of security. We will also strengthen the agricultural and agro-industrial sectors," he said.

Referring to Narayanganj MP Shamim Osman, the Jamaat chief said, "This city was turned into a capital of terrorism. In the presence of the deputy commissioner and superintendent of police, Shamim Osman once said, "File a murder case against me in advance, I will kill Ghulam Azam."

"Where is he now? Arrogance never ends well, and terrorism should never be tolerated," said the ameer.

During the rally, Jamaat leaders also demanded justice for several high-profile murder cases in Narayanganj, including the killing of Ria Gop in the July movement, the murder of Taqi, and the infamous seven-murder case.
