Intercity trains collide at Rajshahi Railway Station; no casualties reported

A collision occurred between the intercity trains Dhumketu Express and Banglabandha Express at Rajshahi Railway Station, although no casualties were reported.
The accident took place today (15 March) at 1:50pm.
The collision damaged three coaches of the Banglabandha Express while one coach of Dhumketu Express derailed and the railway tracks had bent.
Shahidul Alam, acting manager of Rajshahi Railway Station, said, "The Banglabandha Express train was being brought out of the wash pit while the Dhumketu Express was being moved in. Within a few minutes, a side collision occurred between the two trains on platform 6, leading to one coach of the Dhumketu Express derailing and the tracks shifting."
Fortunately, neither train had any passengers on board at the time, preventing any injuries or fatalities, he added.
He further mentioned that the Dhumketu Express was scheduled to depart as Padma Express at 4pm.
However, a relief train has been called from Ishwardi, and until the derailed coaches are cleared, the Dhaka-bound Padma Express train will remain suspended.
As a result, the scheduled departure of the intercity Padma Express train to Dhaka will not be possible on time, the railway station official added.
