Students Against Discrimination rename Sheikh Russel Bridge in Narail
They said they do not want any establishment in the country to bear the name of anyone linked to the ousted Awami League.

Leaders and activists of Students Against Discrimination have renamed the Sheikh Russel Bridge in Narail.
They broke the nameplate on the east side of the bridge on Thursday evening and changed its name to Shaheed Salahuddin Bridge, in honour of Salahuddin Sumon, a martyr from the July mass uprising in Narail.
Shafayat Ullah, district member secretary of the movement, along with joint member secretaries Amirul Islam and Mehedi Hasan, and chief organiser Kazi Yajur Rahman, were present at that time.
They said they do not want any establishment in the country to bear the name of anyone linked to the ousted Awami League.
Shafayat Ullah said, "This important bridge in the heart of Narail was originally named after Sheikh Russel. Today, we changed its name to Shaheed Salahuddin Bhai as part of the student movement. We will officially apply to change the name of the bridge soon. There will be no place for the names of Awami fascism supporters in Narail or anywhere else."
The bridge was built by the Local Government Engineering Department (LGED) at a cost of Tk29.11 crore and was opened by former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on October 11, 2018.
